VCRA is offering four mini-grant opportunities of $250 each to any current, renewing, or new member of CRA/VCRA to be used during the 2026-27 academic school year. (To join or renew go to this link https://californiareading.org/membership/).
To apply for a mini-grant: 

• Email a one page proposal to Mary Goldberg (marymgoldberg@gmail.com).  Subject line: "VCRA Mini-grant." 
• Deadline: November 20, 2026. Winners will be notified the week of December 1, 2026.
• Proposal must include: 1. Your name, position-library staff or teacher (include grade level), email address, and school name.  2. A description of your proposed project that is related to the VCRA mission in three to five sentences.
• If selected, we will ask for a photo and brief description of how the funds were used for a future VCRA newsletter.

Suggestions for a mini-grant, but not limited to:

• Set of children’s/YA books or resources for an existing or planned unit of study.
• Specific topic or genre of books to add to your classroom or school library.
• Books to support California Young Reader Medal voting in your classroom or school library.
• Materials needed to create books for the annual VCRA Young Authors Fair.
• Supplement the cost of a children’s author, illustrator, or guest speaker for the classroom or school.
• Materials needed for a new or existing school-wide literacy event or activity
